The Christmas bin collections in Durham will alter for both recycling and waste over the Christmas period before returning to normal in January. Durham Christmas tree disposal also returns for 2019.
When are the bin collection changes happening?
Rubbish collection will follow the usual schedule until and including Christmas Eve, December 24. The new Durham Christmas bin collection times take effect until January 7, when the normal service will be resumed.
Which Durham rubbish collections will be affected?
The Wednesday and Thursday collections for the week commencing December 23 will be two days later than usual, and Friday's collection will be carried out on Monday, December 30.
Collections due on Tuesday December 31 will take place as usual, but collections due on the Wednesday January 1, Thursday 2 and Friday 3 will take place one day later than usual.

Durham County Council will again be offering a collection service for real Christmas trees. Bookings, for collection in the New Year, can be made by calling 03000 260 000 before Sunday January 12.
When are the Durham tips Christmas opening times?
If you miss the changes to the Durham Christmas bin collection times, then most rubbish tips in County Durham - officially called Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) - are open as normal over the festive period except for Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Hett Hills Household Waste Recycling Centre will open for longer hours over the Christmas period to help ease congestion at other centres. The HWRC, which is usually only open during weekends and bank holidays, will open from 9am until 3.30pm from Monday December 23 to Sunday January 5, only excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
