When is Durham Adventure Festival 2019?

The Durham Adventure Festival dates are Friday to Sunday, April 26-28 2019.

There are events taking place across all three days. The main draw of the festival will undoubtedly be the lineup of top speakers from sports as varied as climbing, Amazon exploration, around the world cycling, and competitive bouldering (a type of low-level ropeless climbing above crash mats, where climbers try to solve puzzles such as reaching a certain point, rather than climbing up a wall).

You can read our story on the Durham Adventure Festival talks to see the full list of speakers, but some of the biggest names include Sir Chris Bonington, sometimes referred to as the father of modern climbing and one of the most famous names in adventuring and exploring; and Ed Stafford, who will be familiar to viewers of the Discovery Channel and who became the first person to walk the length of the Amazon River.

There will also be a variety of activities taking place on each of the three days; previous events have included a photography exhibition, and one of the main attractions has been a climbing wall set up outside the Durham Gala Theatre in Millennium Square, where visitors can have a go.
