With the summer holidays in the rear view mirror, it doesn't mean the entertainment stops. Here are the family events this weekend, September 6-8 2019.
With plenty of venues in the city offering family events, there's still plenty to choose from to fill your weekend. Take a look below and see if you can find an event for the children.
#1: Autumn Hedgehogs, Palace Green Library
It will soon be time for many animals from the British Isles to hibernate. Help get that autumn feeling by making a hedgehog inspired by all of those beautiful autumn colours.
Autumn Hedgehogs is at Palace Green Library on Saturday and Sunday September 7-8, from 1-3pm, and is suitable for children aged five to 11. Usual admission charges apply - email pg.library@durham.ac.uk or phone 0191 3342932 for more information.

#2: Wolsingham Show 2019
Don't forget it's Wolsingham Show this weekend, and there'll be plenty of family activities going on. It's on Saturday and Sunday September 7-8, and there are different events on each day. For more information read our Wolsingham Show schedule story.

#3: Grandparents weekend, Hall Hill Farm
Hall Hill Farm near Lanchester (postcode DH7 0TA) is offering free entry to grandparents on either Saturday or Sunday September 7-8. To obtain free entry each grandparent needs to be accompanied by a paying child aged two to 15.

#4: Kids crafts, Witham Arts Centre
On Saturday September 7 from 10.30-11.30am is kids crafts at the Witham Arts Centre in Barnard Castle. Use your imagination to make mad hats and masks.

#5: Super Stars, Durham Oriental Museum
Check out the Durham Oriental Museum's Chinese astronomical clock and make a super star decoration.
Super Stars at the Durham Oriental Museum is on Saturday September 7 from 1-3pm, and is included in the Durham Oriental Museum admission price (£1.50 adults, 75p children and over 60s, £3.50 family of two adults and three children) and is generally suitable for children aged five to 11. #6: Beamish Leek Show
The Beamish Great North Festival of Agriculture continues this weekend with the Beamish Leek Show, on Saturday and Sunday September 7-8. There'll be flower arranging, family activities, brass band performances and refreshments, with the leek show in the Pit Village - it's free entry and there's a chance to win a rosette, and there are other vegetable competitions such as potatoes and beetroot.
