From crafts to outdoor activities and everything in between, there are lots of family events in Durham this weekend. Here's what's on for families from Friday to Sunday June 28-30.

#1: Cricket World Cup fan zone, Durham city centre

The 2019 Cricket World Cup lands in Durham from Friday to Sunday June 28-30. A city centre fan zone will be constructed in Millennium Place and the Durham Marketplace. The Durham cricket fan zone will be showing matches, as well as hosting cricket activities, food stalls, music and entertainment, and it's all family-friendly. #2: Super Snakes, Durham Oriental Museum

See a Japanese snake model on display and make your own slithery serpent. Super Snakes is on Saturday June 29 at 1-3pm, and is included in the Durham Oriental Museum admission price (£1.50 adults, 75p children and over 60s, £3.50 family of two adults and three children) and is generally suitable for children aged five to 11. #3: Durham Castle Summer Family Fun Day, Durham city centre

The Durham Castle Summer Family Fun Day takes place on Sunday June 30 and has a circus-theme. The Durham Castle Fun Day is run by Castle Community Action (CCA) and Durham Castle Museum.

There'll be a bouncy castle, family fun tours, balloon modelling, circus-themed crafts. You can sign up for a Family Fun Durham Castle Tour on arrival. For more information contact 0191 334 2932 or email castle.tours@durham.ac.uk

It runs from 11am to 4pm and you'll need to book tickets from the booking website.

#4: Art Workshop, Palace Green Library

Have you enjoyed Durham's Summer in the City Festival? As it comes to an end, head to Palace Green Library to make an artwork and take inspiration from all of the beautiful works that you have seen during June.

#5: Armed Forces Day Celebration, Peterlee

On Saturday June 29 head to Helford Road Playing Fields in Peterlee for a free Armed Forces Day Celebration. It runs from 10.30am to 5pm and will have entertainment and displays.

#6: Forest School, Durham Cathedral

The third instalment of the Durham Cathedral activity running on Friday mornings and afternoons, the under fives forest school is designed to help children develop a love of the outdoors by exploring Durham Cathedral's woodlands and riverbanks in tailored sessions for little learners, led by Durham Cathedral's education team.

The Durham Cathedral Forest School is on Friday June 28 at 9.45-11.45am, and an afternoon block is at 1-3pm, and runs for the following two Fridays too. Booking is essential as places are limited by calling Durham Cathedral on 0191 338 7178.

#7: Disney's Peter Pan JR, Durham Gala Theatre

Fly away to Neverland with Peter and the Darling children in this adaptation of Disney's beloved Peter Pan by Gala Theatre Stage School. It has been adapted for young performers and has a one hour running time. It's on Sunday June 30 at 2pm and 7pm.
