Free Durham events this week #6: Stations of the Cross, Durham Cathedral

Durham Cathedral services are often spectacular (you can check out more on our Durham Cathedral events roundup), and this special service should be a great experience. At 3.30pm on Sunday March 17 is Durham Cathedral's Special Service of Stations of the Cross. This old traditional service has its roots in early Christian pilgrimages to follow in the footsteps of Christ in Jerusalem. Now, the Stations of the Cross are a way to walk with Christ a bit closer to home. Related to Lent, Stations of the Cross sees the congregation gather around symbols at each station as a focus for prayer.
