Durham Market's family fun day will bring everything from emergency vehicles to strange insects into the centre of the city to help fill the school holidays with fun.
Visitors heading into Durham will have a chance to meet the community police team who will take along their emergency vehicles. There will also be several other vehicles setting up in Durham Marketplace for the Durham family fun day: a vintage bus as well as an excavator from County Durham attraction Diggerland.
The Durham family fun day will also include face painting, storytelling, and a children's ride, as well as the 'Meet the Mini-Beasts' display in the entrance ramp to the Market Hall.
The Durham Market Summer Fun Friday event runs from 11am to 3pm in the marketplace. Some of the attractions will have a charge but others will be free.
Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: "We want to provide something for all ages, ideal for families. We want you to come in and enjoy Durham, make the most of the attractions, the shops, places to eat and more.
"This stunning city shouldn't just be appreciated by our visitors all summer; we're making sure there's plenty of reasons for local families to enjoy the city too."
Last week saw the first of the two Durham Marketplace family fun days, which included a birds of prey display by Ridgeside Falconr; the community fire service and an emergency vehicle; Saltwell Park radio-controlled boats, the Diggerland excavator, a vintage bus, a display of Capoeira Brazilian martial art, face painting, storytelling and a children's ride. Bugs 'n' Stuff also had their mini beasts available for children to meet in the entrance ramp to the Market Hall.
