Durham Market's family fun day comes to the marketplace with facepainting, insect displays and vehicles to help fill the last days of the school holidays.

The Durham family fun day in Durham Marketplace is on Friday August 30 2019 and includes a variety of child-friendly activities, including many free events.

There will be several vehicles setting up in Durham Marketplace for the Durham family fun day, including an excavator from County Durham attraction Diggerland. Visitors heading into Durham will also have a chance to meet the community police team who will take along their emergency vehicles.

The Durham Market Summer Fun Friday event runs from 11am to 3pm in the marketplace. Some of the attractions will have a charge but others will be free.

The Durham family fun day will also include face painting, storytelling, and a children's ride, as well as the 'Meet the Mini-Beasts' display in the entrance ramp to the Market Hall.

Earlier this month saw the first of the two Durham Marketplace family fun days, which included a birds of prey display by Ridgeside Falconry; the community fire service and an emergency vehicle; Saltwell Park radio-controlled boats, the Diggerland excavator, a vintage bus, a display of Capoeira Brazilian martial art, face painting, storytelling and a children's ride.  Bugs 'n' Stuff also had their mini beasts available for children to meet in the entrance ramp to the Market Hall.
