Valentine's Day 2020 in Durham is usually fairly easy to sort, because there are plenty of events to choose from. Here's what's on this year.

While some venues are offering Valentine's meals, others have events such as film screenings or live music. Here's what's on in Durham for Valentine's Day 2020.

Durham Valentine's Day event #1: Golf event, Ramside Hall

Is one of you into golf and the other isn't? Then Nine, Mine and Dine at Ramside could be the answer. It allows golfers to pair up with a non-golfer for a nine-hole competition. The golfer hits the shots from tee to green and the non-golfer does all the putting.

The golf is followed by a two-course meal and a glass of fizz in the Ramside Clubhouse.

It's on February 14 and players should arrive at Ramside Golf Club by 1.30pm for a 2pm tee off. Go to www.ramsidehallhotel.co.uk for more information.

Durham Valentine's Day event #2: Romeo and Juliet, Witham Theatre

A screening in the Witham Theatre Barnard Castle live from Sadler's Wells in London of Matthew Bourne's Romeo and Juliet, which will feature talented young dancers in a modern retelling. This passionate and contemporary re-imagining of Shakespeare's classic story of love and conflict is set in the not too distant future in 'The Verona Institute'. Here 'difficult' young people are mysteriously confined by a society that seeks to divide and crush their youthful spirit and individuality.

Tickets cost £12 or £10 for children aged 16 or under. It's on February 14 at 7.30pm. Head to thewitham.org.uk/event/matthew-bournes-romeo-and-juliet to book.
