There's a full new programme of Durham Cathedral events this month covering a wide range of topics. Here's the full list of what's on for this month, May 2019.
From special services to music events and children's craft activities, there's always a wide range of Durham Cathedral events taking place.
Durham Cathedral events #1: The Great Durham Pudding Club
Taking place on Friday May 3 at 6.30pm, in the Undercroft Restaurant, this is a must-attend event for anyone with a sweet tooth. A main course is followed by unlimited helpings of five different desserts.
The main courses are pan fried corn fed chicken, carrot and anise puree, pan haggerty and a prune jus; baked cod and chorizo fish cakes, wilted greens, saffron veloute and caper crisps; or chargrilled pesto halloumi steak, autumn ratatouille and a lemon beurre blanc.
The all-important puddings are a rich dark treacle tart and clotted cream; grapefruit posset with sable biscuits; gooseberry and plum granola crumble; dark chocolate and rum torte with an amoretti crumb; and russet apple and cinnamon Eve's pudding with English custard.

Durham Cathedral events #2: Treasures of Durham Cathedral Library
This is a rare chance to look around the Durham Cathedral Refectory Library, which is usually closed to the public, and see a specially curated collection of Durham Cathedral Library's historic collections on the theme of languages.
There are two groups on Wednesday May 8: one at 2-3pm and the second from 3.30-4.30pm. Tickets cost £5 adults and £4.50 concessions. Book by calling the visitor desk on 0191 338 7178.
Durham Cathedral events #3: Special Service: Stations of the Resurrection
Taking place on Sunday May 12 at 3.30pm, the Stations of the Resurrection is a dramatic procession, exploring by movement, symbol, word and music the mystery of the Resurrection.
At each station a topic, or 'intention', for prayer is suggested; attendees are invited to pray for particular needs and situations known to them.
Light refreshments will be served in Prior's Hall after the service.

Durham Cathedral events #4: Under Fives Forest School Taster Session
Taking place on Friday May 17 at 1pm, Forest School aims to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences. Explore Durham Cathedral's woodlands and riverbanks in a taster session for little learners, led by Durham Cathedral's education team.
Durham Cathedral's Under Fives Forest School Taster Session takes place from 1-3pm and costs £5 per child. Accompanying parents go for free. Booking is essential, on 0191 338 7178.
Durham Cathedral events #5: Durham Choral Society Concert
Taking place on Saturday May 18 at 7.30pm, Durham Choral Society will perform Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Rachmaninov Suite no. 2, op 17 for two pianos. The piano soloists are Alison Gill and Yoshie Kawamura, and the conductor is Michael Summers.
Tickets cost: front nave £20, rear nave £15, students and 18-25 year olds £10, under 18s school students £5. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Durham Cathedral events #6: Special Service - Eve of Bede Sung Eucharist and Procession
On Friday May 24 at 7.30pm, the Durham Cathedral community commemorates the 'Father of English learning' with a Sung Eucharist held at his shrine in the Galilee Chapel. Incense is offered and words written in honour of the only English Doctor of the Church are sung by the congregation.
Durham Cathedral events #7: Special Service - Feast of Saint Bede the Venerable - Evensong and Procession
On Saturday May 25 at 5.15pm is the second part of the celebration of Bede. Held at Saint Bede's shrine in the Galilee Chapel, the celebrations of Bede continue with Choral Evensong and Procession.
Durham Cathedral events #8: Special Service - Ascension Day Services
On Thursday May 30 at 5.15pm, Durham Cathedral will celebrate the Lord's ascension into heaven with Solemn Evensong at 5.15pm, followed by Sung Eucharist at 7.30pm. Incense is offered at both services.
